HI, I’m Kristy Thomas

My personal journey with grief began with the loss of my brother Corey at a young age, giving me a deep understanding of the impact grief has on families.

When I address an audience, I speak from lived experience and years of supporting grieving children and families. I’ve learnt so much from grieving kids about life, living with purpose, and finding joy in the present. Their courage and honesty shape the heart of my message.

In my keynote, I explore the power of connection, the importance of community, and how purpose is often discovered through giving back. Drawing on research, real stories, and my hands-on work with young people, I share insights that are relatable, practical, and deeply human.

Whether I’m speaking to students, educators, or corporate teams, I create a space where people feel seen, supported, and inspired to make a meaningful impact.

Dancing & Teaching

With a Bachelor of Dance Education and PDHPE, over a decade teaching K–12, and 17 years running my own dance studio, I’ve learnt how to create safe, expressive spaces where young people can build confidence and belonging.

Feel The Magic

Together with my husband James, I founded Feel the Magic in 2012, driven by their personal experiences with grief and a mission to make sure no Australian child goes through grief alone.

Sharing

As an experienced speaker, educator, and founder, I now aim to bring depth, warmth, and practical insights (and some humour!) to every event.
